Dream 2014/12/4

I have a pretty good inkling on where my subconscious drew inspiration for those strange weapon names. Firstly, I believe the spark came from a repeated phrase in "A Song of Ice and Fire":
All the best swords have names.
Going further back, the best swords from "The Lord of the Rings" also had names, e.g. Glamdring, Orcrist, Sting. Finally, let's not forget just how badass names can be in the Halo universe.

Prequel Dream to Dream 2014/12/4

So first, the prequel dream. No date on it because I can't remember when I had it. I am amazed I didn't write it down and/or post it the day after. And now I'm paying for that mistake. I have forgotten some major details by now, I tell you. Actually the forgetting was a bit useful in a way because that's what made me think about it again, which in turn prompted me to have a related dream that night and to make this post now. Silver linings, I 'spose?

Dream 2012/5/1

Background: As you know, I was a member of the Tae Kwon Do club at uni. (Wow, has it really already been two years since I've entered the 'real world'?) At one sparring practice session I kicked this girl and she almost started crying. She'd been having a bad day, might have been around exam/paper time, stuff like that. Anyway, I remember feeling bad about it. I didn't boot her hard but I could have played defensive. It was obvious she wasn't focused. I could have waited for her to attack instead. I wanted to give her a hug but she hadn't risen beyond Acquaintance level and I wasn't sure how she'd take it. (I give good hugs, by the way.)
==============================

Instead of crying, she sat out and said, "I don't like sparring. I just want to practice forms and techniques."
I sat down beside her and pondered what to say for a moment.
"Which is harder: marble or granite?"
"...ummm....... gra-"
"This isn't a 50-50 type guess. I want a true answer."
".........I don't know."
"How would you find out?"
"Ask someone?"

*I turn and ask fellow members, D-girl and some guy*
"Is marble or granite harder?"
'Granite.'
'Marble.'

"So. That was helpful, huh. What now?"
"Ummm....Google it(?)"
"No. You just have two slabs in front of you. That's it."
"Well...., people use granite to make huge buildings so that's probably harder. Marble's just for decoration, like sculptures and stuff."
"Speculation gets you nothing. You still don't *know* anything. How do you find out?"
"....Break them both, see which one's harder."
"Exactly. I think the same concept applies to us. You'll never really know your capabilities and limitations until you've applied force."

I stand up to go.
"You've heard the phrase: 'Tried and true'. Well, this is a trial."

A Warm and Fuzzy Dream

I was wrapped in a deliciously warm pile of blankets, basking in an envelope of warmth in a frigid room. Then D-girl appeared and sat on the edge of the bed. I gave her my spot and tucked her in, putting a pillow on top of the mound for extra shielding from the elements. Thereupon, a wave of what I can only describe as a "warm and fuzzy" sensation washed over me, relieving me of any regret for such foolishly gallant altruism.

I woke up for a moment then but a glance revealed it to be the ungodly hour of 5AM. Briefly, I considered immediately texting D-girl to tell her all about how nice I was but my phone was not within arm's reach. The prospect of leaving my cocoon of warmth dissuaded me of all those humble notions, as I doubted there would be any infusions of warm and fuzzy here.

You wanker, I can see you posted this at 5:40AM! "ungodly" indeed!

Yeah, well, I'm an atheist. XP

Dream 8/24/2012

I was the captain of a trans-dimensional passenger airship called the NHS Tangible. The inter-planar space looked like the Gummi ship travel zone from Kingdom Hearts. I ferried people from one reality to another, docking at ports by "dropping" back into solid space at predetermined coordinates. Those coordinates corresponded to massive hangar bays in the target dimension. They functioned like airlocks of sorts. All air would be sucked out to maintain a vacuum before allowing a ship to come in. Dangerous stuff happens when matter appears in preoccupied space.

Anyway, our Wraith drive started to malfunction mid-shipment and we started jettisoning cargo back into solid space to "lighten the load". Normally, dropping material haphazardly into inter-planar space is a heinous crime because you never know where and in which solid dimension this stuff will end up but in emergency situations the law made exceptions.

Dream 8/13/2012

I had myself a messenger pigeon hawk.

Oh, first do you know how messenger pigeons work? Well, they are these pigeons that are trained to always return to 'home'. Humans started training and using these animals to deliver messages over long distances back in the pre-internet days. I'd always thought they had some kind of uncanny ability to seek out an addressee, but no. The reality is much more mundane. You had to deliver the bird first, probably in a cage, to the addressee and then that person would attach a message to the pigeon before releasing it and the bird would then fly back to its home, where the sender would receive a reply. So really, it is a one-way communication device.

Oh Yes, That's Some Good FEAR (⌐⌐_)

Last night I had a dream. I was standing in a large crowd of people. A stage and podium stood in front of the gathering and everyone looked at it silently, expectantly. I looked left and right, scanning the crowd but I realized no one else moved their heads at all and I became self-conscious about the motion. Stopped. Then I considered going up closer toward the front to get a better view of whoever would be the speaker. I pushed forward slowly but as I slipped between two people I bumped into a short girl on the other side. She turned around just as a man stepped up to the podium. My gaze locked on him as he made the first noise I'd heard in the dream.

Dream - Insect Infestation

More insects in my dreams, guys.

Last night my room was infested with large household cockroaches. I ran around spraying them with bug killer and they exploded into pixels.

Dream: Poor C2

The only problem I really fear about immortality is losing my mortal friends.
I mean, even now I occasionally feel sad when I think about people I might not see with any kind of regularity after we part ways. It doesn't happen often but it still happens. And I've only lived about two decades! Extrapolate if I lived centuries. /(⊙Д⊙)\

These are truly issues that keep me up at night. ╮(╯ヮ ╰)╭

==================================
I was in a large indoor multipurpose gym room practicing wushu. Or I would have been if I had my shoes.
Standard issue wushu footwear.
Unfortunately, I'd managed to misplace them and D-girl and Z-girl were helping me look for them under benches and in the lockers. I went to the front desk to check the Lost & Found bin but they didn't have them either. There I encountered two other friends and another acquaintance(!): F-boy, C1 and C2. F-boy and C1 are friends but I'd only consider C2 an acquaintance. The funny thing is C1 and C2 are twin brothers, nearly identical in fact, but I never got to spend that much time with C2. Oh wells.
F-boy proceeded to tell me how the food court sold really good hot dogs and also reasonably priced gasoline.
In real life, I wouldn't trust any hot dogs sold at a place that sold gasoline.
We all go back in the multipurpose room and at this point the entire building started to sway. The whole thing was made of glass now. The walls started to crack and shatter and we all ran for the exit. I thought to myself, "Well, good thing I'm not wearing FeiYues. They have thin soles. Not much protection from glass." It didn't occur to me that barefoot wasn't a more attractive option.

From the outside we watched as the towering structure came down in sheets and shards. It was actually quite beautiful. Only after gravity had finished its work did we realize C2 hadn't made it out. We thought it fitting to create a large glass statue of him, made out of the very building that had struck him down.

Dream: A-boy Plays Vidja Games

I totally forgot having this dream but apparently I had the presence of mind to write it down on a notepad.
=========================
I was walking through an alley between a tool-shed and a garage. I was wearing my Marshmallow earphones so I couldn't hear anything but I could see that someone had set up a small camp close to the exit.
Have I ever told you how much I like that particular brand of earphones? It's one of the best inexpensive ones you can buy, commonly only ~$20. The audio quality is excellent for the value, they're very comfortable, and they isolate external noise very well. But enough with the commercial.
After exiting the alley I was accosted from behind by someone carrying a large mattress. While squashed beneath it I removed my earphones and played dead for a moment before flipping it over using the Tatami Flip technique (Ranma 1/2). It turns out it was A-boy. We start rolling and I get him in an RNC but his leg touches a portable kerosene lamp and we break. He tells me he wants my help with something. I start a campfire using a napkin as kindling. The napkin has a doodle of Kaylee from Firefly on it. A-boy has a TV set in his backpack. He tells me he played 4 minutes of Jet Moto before I came over. It strikes me that it isn't his kind of game. (He likes RPGs.)

A Dream About People

This dream was unusual in that I spent my time as an observer instead of actually being myself in the dream. I floated around watching things happen like a ghost.
=======================
There was a rebellion going on. A different one from this one.

The main character was this rebel girl named 花. She was in charge of a supply cart harnessed to a horse-sized lizard/reptile animal. I don't know the specifics but the rebellion was based around disfranchised farmers. ╮(╯_╰)╭

One of those farmers is some chump named Lik. He's the kind of guy that trudges through life, perpetually a victim of circumstance. He ends up getting driven off by the rebel army. They tell him they will compensate him for the damages after some battle but his field is an ideal position to stage a camp. He doesn't believe them initially but they treat him gently and he finds himself beginning to trust them. Nevertheless he slips out to give away their position to the imperial army because he fears being grouped with them.
The rebels note his absence after some time and send rebel Deen to bring him back, gently if possible.

Dream - What An Oddity

It began with me driving a sports car through the night-time streets of Los Angeles.
It looked kinda like this.

Dream - Sleeping Insomniac

So in my dream I couldn't sleep. Yeah, you read that right.

I was just pacing around a room trying to doze off. What a waste of a dream, eh? Then D-girl came in and started redecorating with these puzzle piece mats, the kind used on dojang floors.

They're really pretty comfortable. (O_<)-b
In dream and real life.

Dream - Fairy Box Ice Cream

I enter a room and find Mark attending an Ice Cream Literature class. What is an Ice Cream Literature class, you ask? Well, apparently it's a class that discusses literature corresponding to certain flavors of ice cream. There's a different flavor and work every day of the week. Mark tells me the Fairy Box flavor attracts goth/emo types. The literature, I mean. Not the ice cream. I dunno what the literature was about. It had nothing to do with ice cream.

It looked like this.

Dream - A Crumbling Empire

See, it says dream right in the title there!

There's a flurry of activity throughout the castle-grounds. Documents are being burned, heirlooms are being packed and more than a few people are making their own escape.
The rebels have won. The royal guard smashed. The conquering heroes approach the gates even now. They demand the queen's abdication.
I head down and find the black servants disappearing into a hidden trapdoor. The heroes will not be gentle. No one ever is. Not to them. I decline to follow. I close the trapdoor behind them, slide a barrel over it and kick up some dust to cover their tracks. I hope they make it far away before anyone thinks these levels are too dead for a place that hasn't seen any killing yet.

This Time I Leave Her

Z-girl, my brother, and I had taken shelter in a half-constructed house. Not all the doors had been installed yet and some of the walls were still just struts. We sat to rest and put down our backpacks. Bro went off to use the bathroom and we sat to wait for him. After some time Z-girl looks up and says, "This is the first time we've let someone go off alone... we shouldn't have done that." We get up and I think, Shit. Bro comes running back down the hall with some '28 Days Later' pseudo-zombies tearing after him. If you'll recall, I loved that movie. And those were the best/fastest p-zombies, too. But I'm sure you'll understand why I wasn't thrilled to see them right that second. We take off up the stairs toward the unfinished attic. One of them grabs Bro's arm just as he clears the stairs and they bite his arm. You all know that's a death sentence, yes?

Now for a sidenote: My brother used to play a lot of CounterStrike. There was one play mode that made one team "zombies". They had movement speed bonuses, everything had a green tinge and they could only use melee attacks, i.e. the knife. It was a one-hit kill on the 'humans' side and that player would then immediately become a zombie, i.e. switch teams. I'd watch some of his matches. The prevailing strategy was for the humans to find a corner room in a map and barricade up the entrance. Eventually the zombies would always break through and turn someone, at which point that guy would immediately turn around and attack his teammates. What struck me was how everyone would take the team-change in stride so easily and turn on their former team-mates with such gusto.

So anyway, that bit of information drifted across my sub-conscience and it rapidly implemented it into the dream fabric.

Bro gets bitten and he turns around and starts running at me immediately. I'm halfway up the attic stairs and I see this transpire. I got angry and yelled indignantly, "HEY, YOU DON'T GET TURNED THAT FAST! HOLD THEM OFF FOR A LITTLE ANYWAY, THEN COME AFTER US, JACKASS." I threw my heavy backpack into the p-zombie that bit him and turn up into the attic. Bro stood still for a more suitably acceptable period of time before following. Z-girl and I run up to the edge and see that the house we chose is inconveniently taller than its neighbors. Jumping is not an option. Guess we have to fly. Z-girl has reservations once again. (⌐ ⌐_) Having learned my lesson last time I take off into the sky. Alone.

Well Damn, I Missed That One

Woops, guess what guys? That last post was #300. Was I supposed to do something to commemorate the occasion?
Anyway, last night- what should I call these segments? It's getting repetitive to have to tell you guys, "I had a dream..." every time.
.
.
.
(~_ ̄ ̄)~*DREAM*~( ̄ ̄_~)

I ended up in a small town somewhere in the French countryside. A castle stood up on a hill against a dark blue sky. It was late at night and the streetlamps made little circles of light dotting the streets but deepened the shadows in the alleys. I had on a paratrooper backpack as I ran toward the castle. Then these two girls pulled up and cornered me in one of the alleys. They tossed me in the back and took off. We pulled up to the docks at the edge of the moat and I hopped out and ran around the corner of the guardhouse. I'm not sure if they were allies or enemies because I felt the urge to get away from them quickly. I took a running jump and cat leapt across the water. In real life that probably wouldn't have worked because the sides of a moat are usually naturally defended with slick algae growth from the stagnant water. Once inside I met up with my contact, a guy named Oslo Sederis, but he looked like my high school history teacher.

That's all I remember.

Another Dream

The first part of the dream slipped away from me rapidly upon waking and I could only recover a single phrase: "Pycerion Ryncol". The significance of this phrase has been lost forever.

Fortunately I remember the second part more clearly. I was driving my car back from the elementary school I went to as a kid. It was very hard to control and I narrowly missed plowing over a construction crew working on the side of the road. However, not everyone made it unscathed. At the last moment I bumped the last guy's elbow and caused him to drop his styrofoam sandwich box. I felt so bad that I pulled over up the road and went back to apologize. He took it surprisingly well. He refused my offer to buy him another sandwich but instead asked me to drive his sick dad to the hospital. In retrospect, I find this a shockingly foolish idea. Having just demonstrated my questionable driving ability he asks me to transport his ailing father? The sky rapidly darkened as I drove toward the ER.

And that's all I got.

More Dreams and More Destiny Music

So last night I dreamed I was in my van trying to take a shower. (%__)7
But this girl kept interrupting me while trying to setup the equipment and asking for my recommendations on what suitcase to buy from the nearby mall outlet. I never got to take that shower. (;_;)

More Dreams

I had another interesting dream last night, maintaining my streak of strange lucid sessions. I think it's because I've shifted my bed to a new spot in my room, closer to the window. Perhaps a slight temperature difference radiating through the curtain influences my mind in the wee hours of the morning when I'm deep in the appropriate REM cycle.

I encountered Darkseid but he wasn't allowed to fight me because he hadn't filled out the appropriate paperwork. Saved by the bureaucracy. Who would have thought.

Did I mention I liked JL/U?
