EX mode Boss Monster: MPAA

So it seems like we get to see the true form of this beast. After the KO we gave those bills last week, one of the masterminds behind the scenes, MPAA, came out with this gem:

"Those who count on quote 'Hollywood' for support need to understand that this industry is watching very carefully who's going to stand up for them when their job is at stake. Don't ask me to write a check for you when you think your job is at risk and then don't pay any attention to me when my job is at stake."

These words spoken by Chris Dodd, MPAA spokesman. It's been an open secret that big business lobbies for buys legislation but its always been more or less "under the table". Apparently, there's no need for that kind of cloak-and-dagger stuff now, MPAA just threatened the politicians directly.

Voter apathy has plagued the U.S. since I before I was born but I hope the action all of us netizens have been galvanized into will translate into poll participation when the time comes.

    Chris Dodd is a scumbag, but our system is what really needs fixing. How can we evenly compete with corporations when corporations can pump all their money into government to fuel their interests?

      I believe we need new regulations regarding corporate lobbying, if such a thing even exists right now.

    Chris Dodd is beyond a scumbag and I really couldn't believe he actually said this. I want to know how this man is still alive sometimes actually. Bad news on ACTA though, it's not the European SOPA, it goes far beyond that, and it's worldwide. The US were involved in the talks too.

      It's not quite the same in that SOPA/PIPA are U.S. legislation, ACTA is multi-national.

    That comment is so out of touch it is sickening.

    But the system is so broken, and both your parties are basically the same thing just different names, even with massive voter turnout I don't see there being any change or progress made. There needs to be a new breed of politicians to come forward willing to put things right.
